Airing the Linnen: My Top Four Games - #2
Guest post by Brian Linnen

Ranking these last two games was really difficult because both of the titles are true classics; however, I'm awarding the Silver Medal to Rio Grande's "Carcassonne." There's no shame in coming in second...remember that!
Anyway, this is a fantastic game which never plays the same twice, the reason being, you build the game board with tiles as you play. By playing random tiles on each turn, you create a map of cities, roads, cloisters, and fields which you can claim for points. The bigger you build, the more points you earn. But remember to keep your eye on your opponents to ensure that no one mooches their way into your city, road, etc. If they do, you end up sharing your hard-earned points, and that's no fun!
This is an incredibly popular product which has won over many a non-gamer. It may not have the most exciting box you have ever seen, but I'm betting you'll return to "Carcassonne" time and time again.
Next time: Brian's pick for Best Game!

This is definitely a great game. My family loves it and we play it often. It's great for all ages as it is very easy to learn. It also replays very well because of the randomness of the tile draw. Great fun!
It is great fun, Ned - and like you said, a good family game as well. I think the game kinda hinders itself because the box is kinda boring. It really doesn't make you want to play it, but it seems that most people who do play it totally dig it.
A new expansion just came out last month called "The Tower." I thought it was one of the better expansions, but it really seems to change the game a lot. You can capture your opponents' pieces by building towers on special tiles. Kinda cool, but you're really on the defensive a lot.
