The WEEKEND Comics Chat Open Thread - the Inane Activities Edition!

Hello everyone! Please take a seat anywhere. Get comfortable... now, what did everyone read this week? Anything good? Anything bad? What's happeing in your favorite comic book right now? Tell us!
Here's my pick for the coolest thing that came in this week: the SHOWCASE PRESENTS THE HAUNTED TANK trade paperback!

This reprint volume gives you over 500 pages of the first 33 (!) gripping wartime tales of the Haunted Tank by such greats as Russ Heath, Joe Kubert and Irv Novick, all reproduced in glorious black and white! I really think that this book doesn't need any color... the artwork is just incredible, with beautiful detail and plenty of thick black ink... just the way I like it! All for a mere $16.99, just like the other volumes in the series. Wow. What a bargain! This'll keep me busy for a while...

Well I just came back to the crazy world of comic books this week, and over $100 later I've got enough to keep me reading until next Wednesday!
I thought 52 #4 was lots more entertaining than #3.
Thing #7 was great, as usual.
I can't believe Marvel had the gall to cancel it with issue #8.
Wow...I just finished reading Amazing Spider-Man #532...
Peter is going to reveal his secret identity to the world, supposedly. Though I get the feeling that when he says "I have an announcement to make", I think he'll change his mind and come out in opposition of the Superhuman Registration Act. The cover of #535 has him fighting Iron Man, so I'm still hopeful he'll join the "right" side. (Captain America's.)
Anyone reading Soulfire? It's looking like they are getting closer to being a regular book now. Anyone shocked at the preview of issue #8 in the back? Wow! Mal's new wings are badass, looks like they hurt a bit though.
Woah. Did anyone read Wolverine #42?? That kicked butt. Marc Guggenheim writes, and even though this is his first comic ever, it freakin' rocks. He's writing a new Blade ongoing, too.
Still reading last weeks. Read 52 week 3, Battle of Bludhaven, Spider Man was real good. Wolverine aws good but I didn't care for the art. New Avenger! WOW!! I love this BOOK!!

New Avengers is awesome too, I agree. The art on Wolverine...
I didn't like it in the previews but I don't know, now. I guess I'm just enjoying the classic superhero fight style of the book in general for this issue.
Amazing Spiderman was a great socioethic story, best ish in some time I thought. I also enjoyed the Wolverine book and I do enjoy Ramos art style though some hate it (see: Bill) speaking of which he will be penciling the next arc of Soulfire when current Turner run is over(Turner mentioned it at the Pittsburgh Comicon). I agree it is nice to see 2 issues come out monthly. Battlestar Galactica left me frackin' drooling for more. My 3 faves I read in the past few days were....Green lantern, Mouseguard`and Clive Barkers- The Great and Secret Show....see ya in Snowtown.
Ohh and I forgot the closing chapters of Ultimate Extinction, Son of M, and Iron Man the Inevitable were all badasstoo...
I haven't read Ultimate Extinction yet...I have a time set to read that. Son of M I thought was great, and it looks like after Civil War or the war with Inhumans, everyone will be mutants.
Is a copy of Iron Man Inevitable #6 left at the store??
Yuk. I really don't like the "graffiti-influenced" style of art, like Humberto Ramos' stuff. Why is Wolverine's mouth larger than his entire head?
And, bryan - What did you pick up? What did you enjoy? There's a LOT of great stuff out there right now, so it's a perfect time to return to the fold...
Man, BATMAN is One of if not THE BEST book outthere! I can't beleive I'm saying that! (Please don't strip my Marvel Zombie membership) WOW! No action to speak of but the mind of Dent is Wicked!!!
Iron Man was a great read also! I'm really starting to think Tony is a real D*C*Head!!!
re:Bill ..all the better to eat you with..LOL
I haven't read the new Iron Man's. I keep forgetting to put them on my pull list. Squadron Supreme, too. Bill? If you would, please?
craig box13: For a second there, I thought you were making fun of us "DC heads"...
shadow: Ha-HA! Wolvie looks like one of those hamster-eating lizard aliens from the TV show "V"...
g-evan: I have passed that on to the Chief Counter Monkey Wrangler™ Ken...
Thankyew.
ahhh yes "V" ...Bill you are correct sir..
Wait'll you see the big mouth Wolvie's got in the next issue. WOW!! He could eat a chair whole with that thing...
When you yell at him, it goes
"WOLVIE!"
"WOLVIE!"
"wolvie!"
...
Heh heh heh.
Ha ha.
Wolverine's new power should be a supersonic death blast.
