On Earth-BILL™...

...someone would be keeping stuff like this in print and available:

(The BLACK TERROR #4, Nedor Publishing Company, November 1943)

See, I love the old 1940s comics, and the only way you can get the oldies is to find the original issues... and I'm not Howard Hughes. Even beat up copies like this one from my collection fetch $50 -$500. It would be really cool if someone somewhere would license the rights to some of the great old comics and reprint them in a nice, handy format. I would much prefer something like the DC Archives series

or the Marvel Masterworks series, both of which are hardcover, full-color reprints of classic comcs.

Heck, I'd even be happy if someone would reprint this stuff in the softcover black-and-white format like the Essential Marvels

or the DC Showcase Presents series of trade paperbacks

At least then I could READ all the great old stuff! That's how it would be on Earth-BILL™...

(Oh, and we keep most of the DC Archives, Marvel Masterworks, DC Showcase Presents and Marvel Essentials available at both stores. Check 'em out sometime.)

Once i make my millions, you can head up my company's publishing branch.
That's the fifth or 6th business I've promised someone now using my mysterious future fortune. I'm going to be the best multi-millionaire ever.

I'll take you up on that, nick! First project: The Complete BLACK TERROR. Then I'd think all the Fiction House stuff could use reprinting, like JUNGLE, JUMBO, etc. The I'd do the '50s SUBMARINER and HUMAN TORCH when they're fighting the Commies - stuff you never see... and then we'd have to tackle all that lurid Pre-Code NON-EC horror stuff like HORRIFIC and BLACK CAT and and and...

Heck...How's about reprinting the old Dell Monkees comics with a free cd or something like that? I would buy 'em!

manager ken - You're not seriously calling MONKEES comics classics are you? What you suggest would certainly sell to "Boomers", but jeepers! Don't you already have a copy of everything the MONKEES ever burped near a tape recorder?

That's kind of a good discussion point... what would everyone like to see reprinted in a handy volume or two?

amoorefan - The KAMANDI and ETERNALS stuff is being reprinted as hardcover archives/masterworks... no word yet on inexpensive Showcase/Essential reprints though...

Ouch, Boss...that hurt!

Ok, how about a collection of the secondary stories from Adventure Comics?-like Jim Aparo's Aquaman

ps Is there really a recording of the Monkees belching? What year was it recorded? haha

There you go! Of course, you have to actually like Jim Aparo's art...

And yes, I have a recording of Mickey Dolenz burping the alphabet backwards while "Zilch" plays in the background...

I normally don't have much interest in the Showcase or Essential books because I'm such a snob (if it was originally in color, I want to see it in color!); however, "the Brave and the Bold Vol 1" in the latest previews has made me a very happy comic nerd! Can't wait to get ahold of that one!
