From the Vault: 20th Anniversary Edition Part 1
SO, as we're on the cusp of our 20th Anniversary, I thought I'd dig out some stuff from The Vault and post it up here for all to see. Follow me down memory lane as we visit Comix Connection at various points on its twenty year journey...
Here's one of the earliest photos I can find (but I'm still looking for a shot of our very first 333 square foot location at the Delco Plaza - anybody out there have one?), plus a newspaper article for the first York Con (sounds like some kind of big crime score, but it was just a shortened form of York Comic Book Convention)... enjoy:

That's Ned, artist extraordinaire Jim Steranko, and Bill.

Our main competition is the San Diego Comic-Con? Hoo boy, full of it then, still full of it now...
Oh, and you do know about the FABULOUS COMIX CONNECTION 20th ANNIVERSARY SALE, right? Just click HERE for all the details!

Best. Picture. Ever.
HA!
It looks like one of those still photos they used to show on Saturday Night Live between the breaks...
Don Pardo: "Tonight's Special Guest - NED SENFT! And featuring the music of DEVO!"
I LOVE that jacket!! How come we never see it 'round the Mechanicsburg store???
linnen - Maybe I'll cram my bloated torso into it at the upcoming DARK TOWER MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY!
-
Sweet! And the news about another DT midnight party is great too! I was wondering if there would be something like that going on for this second series. When is the book coming out??
Lol...i remeber that store, i was 10 i think...after you guys moved, didn't that location become a japanese restaurant?...wow...long long time ago...Here's to 20 more, and the hope that you'll NEVER fit into the coat again.
---Chris Sterner
Yeah, I think it was a Japanese buffet, or was that next door?
I do remember that right before that restaurant opened a deer got trapped in the store somehow and trashed things pretty good. Weird.
Trapped in YOUR store?...i vaguely remember something about a deer in a store...i was really young then...memory isn't what it should be...all i know is that's the place you all got me hooked...now i'm 31 and collect; comics from you, and looks from my wife...lol
No, that berserk deer was in the Japanese restaurant which was either the space where the pet store was or a combination of that and our old space... I can't remember any more.
I just remember the blood and overturned tables.
Brrrr.
I love everyone's comments here on this pic!! Bill- I think I saw that coat in the latest B Flick "Attack of the Prom King jackets!!" :))))
I love this nostalgia!! I can't believe how young you look too. You look like you are in 11th grade.
Actually, that coat looks like one of Hugh Heffner's!! Guess if you couldn't get a gig at the Mansion, you had to settle for one there in York!! D'Ohh
HEY. I'll have you know that the jacket in question is from when I was one of "and The Pips"...
(Strangely enough, I do have a cool Hugh Heffner smoking jacket too, but that's for more informal moments if you get the picture and I think that you do.
I can't believe how young you look too. You look like you are in 11th grade.
I was.
And I was 26.
