From the vault - 20th Anniversary Edition Part 10
Here's a couple of shots of a fun day:

We moved from the "long hallway" store in Delco Plaza to the "spaghetti factory" store in Delco across from the UA theaters, and to celebrate on August 17th, 1991, we invited artists Tim Truman and Lee Weeks to come out to meet the fans. Tim Truman is a great guy and we had a lot of fun with him... those are big cups of Hawaiian Snow (mine was mango...mmmmm.)

Lee Weeks (who was working on Daredevil for Marvel at the time) ended up not showing for some reason that I cant recall (illness?), but we managed to have a ball without him! Were you at this event?

I swear I was at this one. I know I met Tim Truman one of the many times he appeared at the store. He was a great guy, lots of fun to meet and chat with. I just saw him again at Baltimore two years ago and he was able to do a quick sketch for me of The Spider! That was a fun book...
OK, I would really like this pic taken down from the blog. Even my wife remarked (while howling laughing), "oh my gosh, who dressed YOU that morning!" LOL Wow....
That was a really fun time tho, Tim Truman is a class act, he never made fun of my clothes once.
Only Ned can get away with wearing his underwear on the outside, like a real superhero.
BTW, I should point out that I really have no idea who Lee Weeks is... sorry if that's a faux paux...
I remember this Tim Truman appearence... that mean 'ol Bill and Ned made me go get the Hawaiian Snows. I still have the graphic novels Tim signed for me too. Awsome books, and a great guy.
Oh, and I remember Ned wearing that turtle shirt allllll the time.
Hey TIMMY!!!!!! Nice to hear from you and btw I remember YOU wearing that awful yellow shirt with your name on it.....oh wait, that was our store shirt...
Now if we could only get Ralph to comment here too!
It's the pants... I can't get those terrible pants out of my mind...
stymieresh - Lee Weeks = artist on DAREDEVIL at that time...
I remember that day as well. I wasn't working there just yet. I still have the Indian and or Native American picture Tim drew for me.....Truman not Smith.
The thing I remember the most about that store, more then anything was the umm, none sound proof bathroom. Oh and the Parrots at the pet store next door.
ralphieboy! Man, I forgot all about those screeching parrots! Incredibly annoying. And lost snakes. And crickets everywhere.
And the roofless bathroom... what a hoot!
Don't worry, I have photos of you coming up real soon, ralphieboy...
Hey Ralph!!! How are ya brother?! In reference to the roofless bathroom, not only was the lack of soundproofing an issue, ventilation was as well. Does anyone else remember the horrific 'Stroh's and Cheerios' incident? I believe we abandoned the store after that one.
Hey Tim..I'm doing great. How the heck are you? I was trying to avoid the Stroh's and Cheerios'incident. Bill blamed me for killing parrots next door from that one. I think Bill made me use Kmart for any future number 2's
I'm doing good Ralph, busy as heck, but good. I really don't miss those parrots from next door, they were a pain, and they would just squawk alllllll day long.
Still, the parrots were better then the roaches that would travel between the pet store and the chinse restaraunt that moved in on the other side of our store. That pretty much kept me from eating over there...
