All your 1960s Marvel cartoon goodness in one place

I recently ran across this awesome post on The Retroist that includes gems like this:
Doc Bruce Banner,
Belted by gamma rays,
Turned into the Hulk.

Ain’t he unglamo-rays!

Wreckin’ the town
With the power of a bull,

Ain’t no monster clown
Who is as lovable.

As ever-lovin’ Hulk! HULK! HULK!

There's more, so go enjoy!

Comic Artists On My DVD Shelves

I enjoy watching movies as much as I love reading comic books, and one of my favourite producers of DVDs is The Criterion Collection. Known for their "continuing series of important classic and contemporary films on DVD", they release some of the finest editions of DVDs available today, and this fall they'll be putting out their first discs on BluRay.

In addition to the in depth bonus features and commentaries on their collections, the packaging for their discs is often just as impressive. In fact, several comic artists have contributed work to their discs.

Mike Allred with a cover for director, Pietro Germi's, comedy Seduced and Abandoned (1964).

Jaime Hernandez with the cover for the hilarious satire of Sicilian male-chauvinist culture, Divorce, Italian Style (1962) also directed by Pietro Germi.

Darwyn Cooke with art for the boxset of horror and science fictions classics, Monsters and Madmen, which collects four films by producers Richard and Alex Gordon. The image here of the boxset cover features imagery from the individual covers for the four films in the set: The Haunted Strangler(1958), Corridors of Blood (1959), The Atomic Submarine (1959) , and First Man into Space(1959).

And most recently, Criminal artist, Sean Phillips, contributed appropriately the cover and some interior book art for the packaging of Allen Baron's film noir classic, Blast of Silence(1961). This release did get some attention on Newsarama for the comic connection.

Probably not the kind of thing you'll see Wizard including in their comic book artist's checklist feature, but definitely cool nonetheless!

"I'm like a bad penny, I always turn up."

How great is it that after 18 years since the release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, this Memorial Day will finally see the release of Indiana Jones 4?!? Well, if you're a fan of Doctor Jones, then Dark Horse Comics has a little something coming out this winter that may take the edge off that Indy fix you need while you wait for the new film.

Drum roll please...

Dark Horse Presents...

Indiana Jones Omnibus Volume 1

Artist:
Dan Barry, Leo Duranona, Karl Kesel, Andy Mushynsky, and more

"Indiana Jones is back in this massive volume recounting three of the most important discoveries in the career of the twentieth century's most adventurous archaeologist!"

"Containing the long-out-of-print stories, "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis," "Thunder in the Orient," and "Indiana Jones and the Arms of Gold," this substantial tome follows the intrepid Dr. Jones as he travels from Africa to Asia and nearly everywhere in between in a race against the Nazis for the world's greatest treasures. From lost cities, to ancient temples, to artifacts of legendary power, Indy will stop at nothing to preserve these prizes from the grasp of Adolf Hitler's evil minions."
