What's your superpower?

Apparently my friend Steve's is that he can play PAC-MAN on a world-championship level.

Behold:

Steve sez:

My best run at Pac-Man CE on Xbox Live Arcade, currently #1 in the U.S. and #3 in the world on the All Time 5:00 Championship Mode leaderboard. I didn't die once, but I think it's still possible to improve... I missed a few 3200 point ghosts and made a couple of minor mistakes.

I am in awe.

I'm sure you all remember THIS POST I did about how there are 7-Elevens being tricked out as Kwik-E-Marts, right? Well, the intrepid Josh and His Band of Fabulous Babes actually made a road trip to one of the stores in Maryland! Check it out:

Too funny!

QUICKSAND? You gotta be kidding me.

(OUR ARMY AT WAR #149, DC Comics, Dec 1964)

Only Sgt Rock could find quicksand in the desert.

Go read this, from How Stuff Works.

OK? Notice that for there to be quicksand, there has to be WATER present. Sheesh.

When I was a surveyor in Florida, we once ran across some real quicksand... it was about the size of the York store and was only about 8-10 inches deep. The sand was suspended in the water, so it looked like it was only half an inch deep when I stepped in it. Weird, but far from lethal. There was a time when we were in some tidal mudflats where my right leg sank into muck all the way up to my pockets... it took me about 20 minutes to get out of that and I almost lost my boot to the suction. I guess if I had been stuck longer and the tide had come in I might have been in trouble. But quicksand in the desert? No way.

Maybe Sgt. Rock was crazy from the heat.

US Postal Service promises light-speed delivery

Or some other silly, unimaginitive title. Whoops. Did I say that out loud?

Anyway, as you saw in this previous post here on the Comix Connection blog, the United States Postal Service had unveiled some neato outdoor drop boxes in R2-D2 drag. Well, apparently it was all part of the hype leading up to their release of these cool STAR WARS postage stamps:

Go HERE to check out the rest of the stamps on the USPS website... and apparently you can also enter to win a trip to something called STAR WARS CELEBRATION IV in Los Angeles, as part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of everything STAR WARS!

But I do think this is even hokier than my title:

"From a galaxy far, far away...to your mailbox."

Kind of a letdown, dontcha think? And it's probably just a bill or some flipping junk mail.

(I can't believe it's been 30 years since this came out. And how it's still such a huge part of peoples' lives. Yeesh, I'm old.)
