The Greatest Christmas Decoration Ever!

My pal Tom Hayes sent me this, the BEST CHRISTMAS DECORATION EVER, the CLARK GRISWOLD II display:

The image was accompanied by this text:
"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."

Too funny. Thanks Tom!

Oreo Collins

Oreo C. Collins (born circa 2007) is a tuxedo cat who gained notoriety when she received a diploma from Jefferson High School Online in 2009, although her age was misrepresented in order to qualify. The sting was an investigative operation by the Better Business Bureau of Central Georgia, which is headed by Kelvin Collins, Oreo's owner.

See, it's easy to get a (fake) education! Even a cat can do it!

This has nothing to do with comic books but

I'm somewhat a fan of SEINFELD, but the more I watch CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM with Larry David, the more I realize that he was the genius behind SEINFELD's success. The man is funny and the situations he comes up with in CURB rival the odd synchronicities in SEINFELD. Anyway, I was very happy to hear this news:

First noted on Clifford Meth's blog, then fleshed out HERE on NPR's site, it looks like it's going to happen. The SEINFELD crew will reunite in the fictional CURB universe!
The seventh season of "Curb" returns on Sept. 20 and will center around Larry finally "agreeing" to do a reunion of the defining '90s sitcom. All four "Seinfeld" cast members will play themselves in multiple episodes, and the season finale will feature extensive snippets of the show-within-the-show.
and
The "Seinfeld" co-creator and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator-star says the cast will appear together in the finale of the upcoming seventh season of the HBO comedy series.

It marks the first time in 11 years that Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards have appeared together on screen.
It's a dream come true for this CURB fan. You just know it won't end well.

Flea Market find!

Yesterday my wife Karen and my kids Max and Leni and I were out playing mini golf and eating barbecue ribs (it's my daughter's birthday tomorrow, she'll be six) when we stopped at a little flea market building just inside Hallam, PA city limits. While perusing the usual pile of dusty castoff crap, I found this gem:

Check that out. At first glance it looks like "DR. SWELL's" doesn't it? Take a closer look:

THAT SAYS DR. SWETT'S!

EWWWWWWW. That's disgusting! And hilarious! "Who wants a nice cold bottle of DR. SWETT'S?" I'll pass. What were they thinking? I'm pretty sure that "sweat" meant the same thing back in the '50s as it does today. Crack me up.

Oh fine bottle of DR SWETT'S Early American Root Beer (rich in dextrose!), you now have a permanent home on the junk shelf in my kitchen!

(FOOTNOTE: I started poking around and found THIS, wherein I learned that the trademark for DR.SWETT'S ROOT BEER has lapsed and is potentially up for grabs. Hmmmmm...)
